Block Heater

How much would you guy's think that it would cost to run your block heater for 10 hours. (overnite)? I just got this month's electric bill ,and almost had the BIG ONE :o hOW MANY WATTS DO THESE HEATERS PULL? [duhhh]

jrs_dodge_diesel Dec 29, 2005 03:46 PM

750 watts or ¾ (0.75) kilowatt/hour. take the rate of your kilowatt hour say $0.065 times 0.75 which is $0.048 cents. 4.8 cents per hour to run the block heater times 10 hours is 48.75 cents. Not much money at all.

Get a heavy duty timer and have it come on 2-3 hours before you leave. It will pay for itself in one month.

yup what Geico266 said, heavy duty outdoor timer will save you $$$ I set mine on @ 4am and I leave at 7am works great, plus I have a remote starter so I dont even have to leave the house. Only time I go and start it myself is when it dips below -25C and I cycle the grid heater 2-3times
