Baldwin Filters

I just looked over my reciepts for 06 and noticed my Fleetguard LF3959 oil filters went from $11.67 to $17.87.[verymad] This was from the local Cummins dealer. I called one of the better diesel shops and found out they only carry Baldwin Filters because they are the "best", and around $11. Any opinions, knowledge of Baldwin products? Thanks, Kurt

As of Feb 12, I am paying $9.60 for a Fleetguard filter at my local Cummins shop. Sorry but I have no info on Baldwins. You should be able to mail order Fleetguards cheaper than the price your paying now..

I work for the local Cat dealer. Independent third-party testing that I have seen puts Baldwins pretty low on the quality list. The testing is several years old, but I would check into the mail order options, etc. Personally I run Donaldson's. They test quite well and I can buy them at cost. Just my .02, I'm sure others will chime in here as well.

baldwin filter#pf7977 for CTD has the lowest absolute rating of 5 microns at almost 99% .they are the very best. im am using the 7 micron filter from genos in the winter an the baldwin in warmer weather.any fluid or air filter test that were done more than year ago are obsolute by todays standards. this also is true when it comes to oil an fuel additives.

Ahh, the confusion sets in. I run my business in town and try to support local business as well, but that cost difference is a lot. I have been considering on-line shopping for this stuff. WRM, where did you get the info on the Baldwin brand?

I Think Most Came From There Site But Some Came From The Oil Guy Site Then I Called Bawlin And Talked To A Teck Also Found Out From Them Who Sold Baldwin In My Area. The Only Thing That Consurns Me About These High End Filters Is That They Might Cut Down On Fuel Pressure An Flow In Cold Weather I Would Hate To Be Broke Down On The Side Of The Road Because I Used To Good Of A Filter. I Carry A 1 1/8 Open End Wrench An A Extra Filter In The Truck And I Change The Filter Every 3 To 5 Thousand Miles With My Oil Changes

I use Baldwin Filters a lot...excellent quality. On my CTD I use their fuel filter but not the oil filter....just because it's not on Cummins approved list. Fleetguard Stratopore here. I buy 3-4 at a time from Genos. Last ones were $10.42.

Have you checked what the LF3894 Stratopore is selling for? I was getting those for around 10.00 in Spokane.

SIXSLUG 03-10-2007 11:29 AM

Is that a more efficient filter than the LF3959? I noticed they are about a dollar more on-line. I go thru Spokane about 3 times a year, I should pick some up. Everythings cheaper in Spokane! For Now. Thanks Marine, Kurt

According to Fleetguard's website, the upgrade filter # for your truck is LF3894 Stratopore Media. Sounds like you should stock up when you're in Spokane or check the price for that part number form your present source.

I got mine at the Freightliner store right next to the Flying J about 2/3rds of the way between Sullivan and downtown on I-90. I don't remember the name of the street, but it is the one you could take right to the fairgrounds.
