Bad Tranny?
Bad Tranny?
Hey, sitting at a stop light today on a hill, which isnt all that steep, let off the brake to go and it rolled backwards.... never happened before. What could be the problem. Oh and its an Auto, its not a driver error haha
Re:Bad Tranny?
I'll go out on a limb here. Maybe the tranny was really hot, causing the viscosity of the fluid to decrease and lead to a loss of pressure. Or, something else lead to a loss of pressure? Can't really guess what that could be though.

Check the fluid level. I would asume you probobly already did that but ive had problems with the tranie being 1-2 quarts low and slipping when first put into gear. I would move 10-50 feet then stop and try and go again and it would just rev up and go nowhere till i let off the throttle. I filled it up and no more problem.

Is it possible that because you were on an incline, the fluid was a little low to begin with, and the incline was just enough to force the fluid to the rear and thus temporarily run you out? Just a thought.LE
Re:Bad Tranny?
hasnt done it since, who knows what happened, incline wasnt that great. pry less than when you jack the front up to change a tire, and the truck ran aroudn 120 miles so she was warm but like i said no problems since and im in Sioux City now so hills are a little more drastic here. Thanks for the input

of the stock converter will allow the truck to roll back on steep hills.
