Had to go out of town for work with truck so i grabbed a paper clip and clipped it onto housing of cable at idle to keep housing from sliding forward. and drove 220 kms, almost shifted perfect, only had to move gearshift into neutral and back to drive twice to upshift. I ordered a new cable and it will be in monday. I will get dealer to replace and do the pressure checks.

well my cheap fixes are over, I had the new cable installed and dealer dropped pan and said there was clutch filings again and the bands are on there way out, very little lining left . so where can i purchase a good transmission? want something that i can pull a 5th wheel toy hauler with. preferably in western Canada.

rebuilt transmission in and shifts like a new truck again, now another mystery problem showed up after picking it up at dealer, brake pedal went to floor and abs and red brake light on dash came on, stopped checked with dealer and he said they never touched brakes.brake reservoir was empty so i filled it, drove home 30 minutes checked reservoir it was empty again. I filled it again and went for about 10 minute ride, stopped and reservoir is half way empty. There is no fluid leaking on wheels or lines, Where can it be going? pedal is soft when pushed down.

Yes you were correct, line rusted through behind fuel tank.. looking at the different options,, might as well order the complete line kit as they are probably all ready to rupture.

With brakes my take is..
Fix them properly. A complete hardline kit, plus all the soft lines and go over the calipers and cylinders... not much money compared to the alternative.. how many fillups for the truck will it cost- 2 or 3.. if you do the work yourself. Maybe 10 if you buy the labor. Bad brakes need less than a quart of fuel to ruin lives.
