how do i tell if i need to replace my apps or my convertor. right now my convertor lock up surges between 35 to 40 mph. trany shop told me it was loseing voltage. but other people told me it was convertor.

You just asked about one of the more common problems with our trucks. I fought it most of last spring. It was caused by the TC locking and unlocking due to electrical noise. I solved is temporarily by cleaning all my grounds. It kept coming back. I finally solved it by installing a noise isolator I got at Geno's Garage (a sponsor of this site). If that doesn't solve it, there is another solution that involves cutting a wire or two on the APPS and PCM. Hopefully you will be as lucky as I was by checking this form. By following the suggestions I was given on this forum I avoided replacing my transmission. Geno's ships quickly and is very convenient.

 

I had the same kind of problem fixed that by grounding the apps with one of those wire things and it shifted good until yesterday. now I get no 4th gear at times.when it happens I also lose the cruse control and the doors wont auto lock at 15 mph. Anyone have any clues as to what is going on now? Also engine revs at idle It is getting the best of me
