Am I using the wrong oil filter?

Hey guys, I was just trying to find online where to buy my filters the cheapest. As I was looking I couldn't find anything that matches the part number of the oil filter I have now. I can't remember if I gave the guys at the truck shop this number or if they ran it for me and gave me this. The last two oil filters I have put on my truck are Fleetguard LF3349 but everything I find online shows that my truck takes a LF3894. Am I using the wrong filter? Will this hurt my truck? I also noticed that the LF3894 seems to be a little bit more money. Is this because its a "Strataport Oil Filter?" On this one website it shows the normal(not stratapore) filter to be LF3959? Help if you can! THANKS

From Geno's:

Oil Filter - Fleetguard - Stratapore (24-valve) - LF3894
$8.50

Oil Filter - Fleetguard - Standard (24-valve) LF3959
$5.95

Oil Filter - Fleetguard - Micro Glass (12-valve) - LF3552
$8.45

Oil Filter - Fleetguard - Standard (12-valve) LF3349
$4.95

So how come the LF3349 fits on my 24 valve? Am I hurting my engine by running this filter?

This is just me talking here but you have a very expensive engine there, don't always look for the cheapest. Look at what is best for the engine. Expensive oil filters are cheap compared to an engine overhaul.

Re:Am I using the wrong oil filter?

The main difference is the 24 Valve filters use a stronger canister.
There were some reported problems with cold weather/thick oil, canister blowouts on early 24 valvers using the 12 valve filters.

LF3894 Stratopore is a better filter....use the best and you shouldnt have any problems
