air filter

The air filter gage on my truck doest appear to work. and on the side of my breather there are 3 holes that look like a home improvement. is that the problem
where do i get a new breather? what does one cost? is it okay for the gage not to work

As long as the holes are on the dirty air side of the air filter they aren't a problem.
Having no filter minder gauge isn't a problem, when it works it's just an easy, usually accurate way to monitor your air filter. Having worked on these trucks for years, I have noticed some patterns:
On 12 valve trucks, when the engine is running strong, it will pull down some yellow on the gauge with even a fresh paper filter. On 24 valve trucks, the filter has to be quite dirty to pull down even a little yellow.
Anyway, welcome to the site.

They are on the dirty air side thankfully.
Thanks for the help
