License Plate Bulbs ?

The book that came with the truck when I bought it new says they are 1155s but they can't be. 1155s have a round metal base.
They look like 168s but what are they?
I took one out and handed it to the wife for safe keeping and she lost it.
One of the holders melted around the edges and is just dangling there. Ordered a new one. I guess I can wait and see what fits it but I need to get bulbs going so I don't get a ticket.

Went to the closest Auto Zone and bought a pack of 2 Sylvania Zevo 168 Super Bright LEDs
I was a little disappointed when I put one in the socket that was still there and it did not work.
Then I remembered that these are diodes and have polarity. Pulled "the bulb" out and flipped it over and it worked fine. Soon as the new pigtail for the bad side gets here I'll plug it in.

Funny you say that. I had the same problem with one light not working. Swapped them around and it still didn’t work so I thought I had a bad bulb. Checked the bulb with a 9 volt battery and it worked. Hmmmm. I took a little flat screwdriver and pulled the contacts out works great now. Just wasn’t making good contact inside the socket.
