5th gear gone
 

I had the "updated" MOPAR nut installed after the original came off a couple of years ago, and it has failed again. I've read elsewhere on this forum that others have welded the nut to the shaft, and also of updated shafts. I'm tired of getting the "shaft" on this deal. What do you recommend in the face of repeated failures? I'm 5K miles from home, and will probably have to do this myself in my son's driveway, unless it involves more than just replacing the nut. Thanks for the help.

There is no better fix than THIS . Quad 4x4 is the most knowledgable source by far when it comes to NV4500 5th gear failures and solutions.
