Exclamation 47RE problems

My 47RE quit on me today I was pulling a buddy's car, total wieght with trailer only about 5000, and all was well then I stopped to get fuel and it wouldn't pull out at the off ramp stop sign. It barely moves in both forward and reverse, it didn't even have enough power to get up my trailer ramps, and I need low range to get it to move.

The trans is in my sig and was rebuilt about two years ago and 20k miles and has worked flawlessly, the tranny never got above 120* today so I don't think heat was a problem.

I didn't check codes yet but I will tomorrow, but I did a quick search and read some things about limp mode could that be a cause? Tranny fluid wasn't burnt and was full too.

Any suggestions/experience would be great.

Thanks
Chris

I checked the codes today and came up with a P0743 and P0753, the one for the torque converter is always there because I have a switch on it but the other code says it's for a shift solenoid so I am hoping that's the problem. Any thoughts?

Almost bet it is your solenoids, Gov. pressure.

Do a little searching and you will find it is fairly common across the variants ( 42RE,46Re,47RE )

Yea that's what I have been coming up with after doing alot of searching, I took it to the tranny shop and they are supposed to let me know today, if that is the problem I am probably going to go with the GM adapter for the gov pressure soleniod, since that seems to be and upgrade.

I talked to a trans shop today and took the truck to him and he said that it couldn't be the gov pressure solenoid because reverse wasn't working so he said it needs to be pulled so I am back as square one.

Did you find anything out about your tranny yet? It sounds like something similar is going on with an '01 I just bought.

It turned out to be the torque converter, apparently the locked side was working fine and then when I stopped and it unlocked that was why it wouldn't move.
