2nd gear starts
This has happened a couple of times in the last few months. Seems to be after it has been driven stop and go for a while... 2nd gear start. Today it seemed to fix itself by shutting down and starting again. Problem scares me, if I am towing or on a hill, I will bake 2nd gear. I have replaced the governor sensor and transducer couple years ago when I rebuilt the trans. Just changed the fluid, red colour, no chunks. How to trouble shoot a sporadic problem?

Most likely it's the governor solenoid. Continued driving with this condition will eventually kill that trans.
I have had electrics last several years or several days. They are Dodge parts and there's no way to know when they will fail.
We do have a much better solenoid that we use in our DTT trannys.

I would change the pressure sensor while in there.
Save your sales slip. Dodge quarantees parts for 1 yr but I have seen some of the newer Soleniods die in 10,000 miles or less!
OR fix for good (more expensive) with the D-Max solinoid that Dave mentions above.

I have had this problem off and on over the last 2 years. Last summer is was a frequent problem, this summer it's hardly done it a bit. Sometimes you can manually shift to 1st and it will drop into 1st, but not always. Other times it's actually been a 3rd gear start and when you manually shift to 1st it only drops to 2nd.
Dave, is your solenoid and/or sensor able to be used in a stock 47RE? Regardless, I could not find it for sale on your site.
