241 HD TransferCASE Question
I always thought (was told by folks etc...) that dually's and Manual 2500's had the NP241 DHD case w/ 29 spline shaft as well as Dana 80 out back
while Auto 2500's had the NP241 DLD case with the Dana 70 out back
Is this not correct?

My build sheet states that my truck has the camper package and tow package, heavy duty service group, and upgrade front springs but no Plow prep package. The 241 HD transfer case is listed but the tag on the case itself reads 241HDH.
checked last night, and my t-case says HDH on the tag. im assuming thats the heavy duty one? my truck's gotta auto in it, guess thats what i was confused for. i thought that auto's had the LD one. oh well, that helps me out cause all i gotta do is get the right drive shafts.
The heavy duty t-case was optional on the 2500 trucks with an automatic for example in 1996 it was $100 more . It can be identified by the new process tag bolted to the rear of the case like they all are. The tag is aluminum and red about 2.5 inches in diameter it will list the model number as well as the gear ratio. The 241 dhd t-case can also be identified by the bolt on stamped steel pto cover on the passenger side of the case. If you do not have the steel plate then you have a 241dld t-case.
