I am rebuilding a role over with a new cab from the south (I live in PA). After seeing how rust free this cab is I decided to go all out and install a 6 speed from an 03 cummins, after the install I realized that there is not place for the speedo sensor. Two questions
1. Did they put this transmission/transfer in the 2001? (I think they did just not sure) (the transfer is a 271D) If so does anyone have the part numbers for the transfer case tail shaft and housing that I need?
2. Do I have any other options to power the speedo?

The same transmission is used in the '03 as in the '01s

The 271 T-case starts being used in '03.
'98-'02 trucks use the rear axle for the speedo sensor.

If you want a T-case with the speedo sensor in it you want o use a '94-'97 T-case. That would be a NP-241.

ok I hope that is the case I am still on the assembly faze but this is an 01 and it has a 241 with a speedo sender in the tail housing. not completely out of the question that is has been change, this truck has been really molested. I will cross my fingers that your correct and let you know the outcome. thanks for the info.
