1999 six speed

Hope this is posted in the correct location - I'm new to the board.

Question: I have a 1999 Ram2500 with a manual six speed. I've never seen/heard of another 99 six speed 2500. Was it not a popular option, or was it introduced late in the year so not many were made? Btw, I special ordered mine this way and had to wait 4 months for it.

Any production #'s on 99 six speeds?

Re:1999 six speed

Not sure when you ordered your truck but when I ordered mine in March of 98 the 6spd was an option. I did some checking before hand and didn't get the 6spd since it was new and I didn't want to be anyone's gini pig.

I do know that they discontinued it later in the year do to clutch problems I think. It wasn't avalible till 2000 model year after that.

You probeble have a pretty rare truck, I've only heard of 2 other 99 6spd's.

My '99 owners manual has the data on the six speed. And the service manual has it.

I have got an '00 6spd. There weren't many in '99 or '00. when they introduced the HO/6spd combo in '01, then there became a lot of them.

Re:1999 six speed

The '99 six speed was an option late in '98.

I ordered a '99 with the six speed Nov.8, 98, and did not receive the truck til may 17, 99.

It was continually put on hold because they just did not have enough six speeds to fill all of the orders. There was never a problem with clutches, etc, that I am aware of. At least not until you are around 350hp!

The did increase the size of the main shaft by an 1/8 or 1/4 inch, tho...I forget by exactly how much. That was in 2000.

Re:1999 six speed

I was under the same impression also that Dodge didn't build many 99-00 6spd models until I was at one of the local dealers looking around at the used lot and there were no less then seven Cummins powerd 6spds. A mix of 99's and 2k's

Also i believe the input shaft size was increased in 01 when the HO was intruduced.
