Is it 100% the TPS

Over the last 6 months the truck has been surging. Set the cruise and it goes away. Finally quit completely the other day. Truck would idle but as soon as I gave it throttle in any gear over 1st lost all power. CEL came on. Ran it by autozone and the code was for the throttle body sensor. Finally it started running again, with surging, but managed to get it home. Ordered my timbo apps but before it got here I ran the truck down the road to test again. Not only did it run normal but the CEL went off. Would I be correct if i said the TPS is still on its way out and I should go ahead and change it out?

If it is your APPS (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor) it will do what you described when you activate your cruise.

The Timbo will fix the surge/miss and will smooth it out.

As for the CEL coming on, I am assuming that showed up on the overhead display.

You are talking about the 01 3500, correct?

Your cruise is electronic, if the surge goes away while cruise in engaged, APPS is on the way out, simple as that.

Yes its the 01 3500. Surge always goes away with cruise. Just thought it was odd it would completely die and then come back to life a few minutes later and then the next day turn the CEL off by itself (the one on the dash). Guess I will throw the new apps on there and maybe it will be fixed for good.

timbo apps

Was your truck smoking while it was surging and loosing power?
Mine has the same symptoms you describe plus a lot of smoke when i press the pedal down.
I have a new tps from timbo-wanted a warmer day to install it- just my luck- first cold snap and all goes to hell

Timbo apps

I just finished my install and wanted to say- great product and excellent instructions!!- thank you for one stop shopping, right down to the paper clip.

Unfortunatly it did not cure my stumbling engine problem.
engine stumbling and smoking with pedal pressure- i think my vp44 is gone or my injector or injectors- calling a professional in the morning
