01 2500 rear differential
Hey all, I found a truck that I am interested in, however the ad that I saw says it needs a rear end, I was wondering what to look for to replace it?
I am guessing something like a dana 80?

Busboy is correct but a dana 80 can be put into a 2500 auto. Everything bolts up exactly the same, I had to shave a little section for the tone ring sensor but other than that a direct bolt up. BUT- theres always a but, the driveshaft will need to be shortened. I picked up a dana 80 for 200 bones and had my drive shaft rebuilt/rebalanced and shortened with spicer ujoints and a new carrier bearing and the total swap was less than $500.

Why not just rebuild the one that is in there?
You would need a ring and pinion, carrier bearings etc that can be had in a kit from Randy's or Yukon.

If it requires a full rebuild-seals, bearings, gears your talking 1200+ for a professional rebuild. I found a cheaper/upgrade route that worked for me.
