Would this work?

In the future of my injection pump, I see a pump mod!
I plan on turning the full power screw a couple times in, and I would like to know some things before doing it.
First off, Could I use like an awl(one of them sharp pointed tools) or a long nail to remove that darned steel collar on the screw, by putting the point where the collar is joined together?
Also, any advice on getting into the screw to turn it?

And if I decide to turn the screw, is it possible to turn the pump up to get a small "haze" at full throttle with a load on it? Or will I have to turn the smoke screw?

Also, If I turn it up some, how much will I loose Fuel Milage wise?

Thanks for your help and advice,
Wheelo

Don't remove the lock collar without getting a pyrometer, to know when to get off the pedal. SOme have had luck popping it off by turning a nut against it. Mine seemed to have a larger weld and I needed to touch it with a grinder. Just turn it past the lock collar and you'll see haze. All you're doing is allowing it to pump more fuel when you want to. It won't affect mileage anymore than you stomping on the pedal.

thanks, just may have to try it this evening.
Will I get a little more power by doing this at all,
I agree that a pyrometer would be needed if I went very far with turning the screw in.

I use a 1/4" drive ratchet and a 6 mm socket to adjust on the screw.

The "smoke" screw only controls the smoke puff when you step on the pedal. Use that (along with the star wheel) to tune turbo spoolup.

Every truck is different. If it gets too hot you can turn it down (yeah, right).
