Window problems?
Window problems?
Well my windows were working fine when I got back to work from lunch. 5 hours later I get in my truck and hit the switch for the driver side nothing.. Passenger side works fine but nothing happens for the driver side. No noises or anything. Maybe one of the wires gave when I shut my door? My gf has a 05 jeep liberty and you knows how that goes.
The newer dodges are notorious for wires breaking in the flex tubing in the doors.my 07 and my buddies 08 both had multiple wires broken in the rear driverside door we beaned. Them back together and they work fine we also loosened some of the wires in the door panel to give them more play.they have a upgrade for a new wire harness but who wants to pay for that
Hopefully I can take it all apart tomorrow evening.. I'm thinking wire or switch because when I rolled it up the last time it made no noises at all... With the liberty it usually makes a horrible noise and quits. If it's the motor, then I'll go read over Jim's fine write up.
Well I ruled out the motor
This morning I hopped in the old gal and my window works perfectly. Has to be a wiring issue I would think. Is there any foreshadowing of a motor failure? My passenger side seems slower then my driver.
Thanks

I had the exact same problem in my low mileage one-owner truck, an intermittent driver side electric window.
I unwrapped the black "friction tape" covering the wires where they run from the door into the truck fender -- the problem was immediately obvious, a broken wire with the two ends making contact only periodically.
Trim about half an inch off each end of the wire, slip some heat shrink over each end, solder a new length of wire in place, insulate with the heat shrink, and rewrap the bundle with new friction tape.
