Will rear shocks do anything?

So I ordered a set of rancho 5000s (5114) built for 2.5"-4" of lift for the front of my truck, but they also ordered a pair of rancho S5000s for the rear that are for 0"-4" of lift (5005). The rear shocks are original, and do not function (might as well not even have em on there.) I am contemplating whether or not to return them because they are very expensive.

I don't think the rear bounces, but will rear shocks help my ride, or help the rear tires to hook up? Thanks!

Mopar, you have a 2wd. It does help.

But on a 4x4 (I use to have one), I think them useless! My rear end would jump and everything as stiff as can be. Now, add a trailer and it ws nice!

Shocks are under-appreciatted and the last thing to get replaced when they should.

Intelligent independent truckers replace ALL shocks with each tire change.

A properly functioning shock-absorber will prevent the cupping/dipping of tires.

The springs slow downward motion and the shocks retard the reflex of the springs.

If your suspension is stiff, such as a stout 4x4 or a DRW chassis-cab with over-loads, then you probably will not be able to "feel" any difference, shocks or no, but they are performing a job, none-the-less.

When i did my shock testing with and without it rode 100 times better without the shocks hooked up.. Put one on and it wasnt to bad, but it sagged to oneside a bit. Put both on and it well u know how that is!! But it did bounce some without..

My shocks were totally dead when i pulled them, you could just move them back and forth with no resistance at all. It rode like a pogo stick going down the road and would bounce around for a while after you hit a bump. I got some used rear shocks from a 99 24 valve for free and they fit so I put them in. It did stiffen up the ride a lot, but I'd rather have it this way instead of bouncy. Some weight in the back helps quite a bit.
