Where was my/your engine made????
I have an 89 1 ton srw, 5 sp, and when i had the head off doung the head gasket i noticed that the head had a mark, ( west germany ) on the underside, near the firewall area, WHERE was the block made???
Were these engines made in germany? Brazil? Is there somewhere i can look on the block to find out?
Thanks,
Peter.

I don't know where the rest of my engine is made but the stock injectors were made in France and the turbo England. There like Harleys. Parts come from everywhere.

Probably, but Maybe Not
The crankshafts are forged in Scotland; connecting rods and pistons, US; altenators, either Japan (Nippondenso) or US; block as you noticed is cast in Germany along with the heads.
They claim US because they assemble the engines in Columbus, Indiana at the Cummins Engine Company factory. They don't have to pay a huge import duty for a complete engine if they assemble it in the US, but they can keep their costs way down by buying most of the components from overseas.
When I was doing a head gasket on one I found Germany on the block somewhere; don't remember where though.
