I wanted a really tough, reliable truck to haul lots of rock, pull trailers, 4x4 occasionnally and great fuel economy. I bought mine a year ago now, and it's been an excellent investment so far.

I also just love the sound of a cummins running.

I've wanted one of these trucks since they got the Cummins motor.
Me too. I had just finished repowering my boat with a Cummins 6bta at 270 hp.
Figured why not.
Thought it would be a dog when I test drove it, but not so. Then I learned about the TDR and this site and how to BOMB it. Bonus.
Then I checked fuel mileage and was getting 24 mpg. Bonus again.
Now I love em! Don't ever want to go back to a gas truck.

I have been wanting one for several years. Realy came to like the 1st gens more after my dad got his oll 90 to do cattle chores with, thing takes a beating and just wont quit.

Anyway found mine 3 months ago after looking for a year or two off and on. Wanted it to pull my offroading rigs around the US and as a daily driver. It might get broken in pulling my junk from central KS Clayton, Ok in March, then to Moab Utah this May.

I just like the styling of a 1st gen more than a 2nd.

I needed something to pull my 30' Dutchman. My dad has a '94 and he told me a dodge cummins was the only way to go. I shopped hard for about 6 weeks with no luck. I had given up because I was in Virginia, had just finished the job I was there for and wanted to come home to Texas. Kinda ashamed to admit this now but my wife and I were on our way to buy a Ferd 250 gasser when I spotted it. It was exactly what I had been looking for. Fifteen miles from where I was living and I had looked from coast to coast. Cash money talks and I was driving it home it about an hour. And guess what---dad was right again! He will tell me,"Son, I have only been wrong once. That was when I thought I was wrong but I was really right!!"
