What is this thing on my tranny cooler line?

I am trying to sort out the wire mess in my 92 ctd for my ramcharger. The wires to it from the factory harness are orange with (i think) an black chaser and red with a white chaser. I will need to recheck the wire colors in the mornin-oops-later today.

Pic is drivers side looking just below where the shift linkage hits the tranny. Left is frorward in the pic.

a sensor that is made to detect ATF overheaying, and I believe if your temps hover around 210 degrees this sensor will kick you out of OD in hopes of protecting the tranny.

It also prevents over drive shifts if temp is too low, if I'm not mistaken.

Can this be deleted? Or maybe be replaced with a trans. temp gauge?

Thanks all, I may delete it when I get a guage installed. Just one less thing to go wrong and ruin my day in the future.

You have to leave the switch connected to the harness or jump the wires or you lose OD.
