What size lift for 20x12 33”
 

Hey guys I’m new to the forum. I need new tires this spring I picked up a clean first gen in California last year and would like to put some 20x12 33” wheels and tires on it. I would like to know if any of you ha e done it and what height lift I would need to fit without rubbing? Any help would be great thanks!

33X12.5 tires will fit on a stock W250, heck I am even running that size tire on my 1/2 ton '80 Ramcharger with no lift. The key is an 8 inch rim seems like the max width you can go with.
Trying to run a super wide, off set 20X12 rim and still be able to steer it without the front tires touching the back of the wheel well, will be the problem.
For that I have no answer as I find that look ridiculous and in my state it is illegal to have uncovered tires sticking out of the wheel well. Getting pulled over by every other cop on the road because of your tire and rim choice gets old.

I would say it all comes down to how offset are the rims you are going to buy from stock and how comfortable are you with trimming the front wheel well.

I can fit 35x12.5s on my '91 W250 12V with only a 2 1/2 inch lift on the front end, but I am running 16X8 rims. The rim and tire package is dead flush with the front fenders with the wheels straight ahead. I tried the same tires on 16X10 rims [that stuck out almost 1 1/2 past the sheetmetal] and they rubbed pretty badly on the front fenders.

But to answer the question. I think you could clear them with a 4 inch lift and maybe a 2.5 inch lift if you don't use it for a truck, or no lift if you live in a flat land state without turns or curves.
