What Injectors?

So I've got my HE351CW on now, with the waste gate tacked shut, and I can peg 40+psi in 4th gear if I push it. Still have a smoky haze up to 40lbs, so will injectors do anything for me? I don't think I want PODs either because they're dirty. Looking for mileage here too. thoughts!?

THANKS!

i'm having a hard time tuning out the pre turbo spooling/low rpm haze of the 5x14's on the 5 speed. Also on the fummins auto with 5x12's it puts out a good puff of smoke until the rpms come up and the turbo spools.

5 speed now has a 62/65/12
auto is just an hx35 12cm exhaust housing.

Same issue with my 91.5 with Bosch 5X.012s. The thing is, mine started doing it when I put the 4" exhaust on it. Back then I still had the H1C with a 16cm2 and 60mm inflating the 5X.012s and it spooled great on the original 3" exhaust. Put the 4" on it and it fell flat on its face on the low end and still haven't been able to clean it up. I've been thinking its a back pressure issue.

I keep bumping the timing more and more and it seems to help with the low end haze, but then I loose low end torque. Just don't know....

Rebuild the IP. I bet your haze goes away.

Or the other thing is the pop pressures being off. Bumping them up will help with the haze too.

With that much turbo and stock sticks you shouldn't be having any hazing issue. Me thinks dieselJohn is right.

On the issue of pop pressure, if you have injectors that have or were set with a higher pop pressure, then a timing bump corrects for the delay caused by the higher pressure needed to open the injector. Old injectors usually go the other way, they get weaker. In my case, the timing was already jumped a tooth on the gear when I put the 4" on. Returning the timing to stock (1.25mm lift) helped reduce, but not eliminate the haze and made no difference in the spooling lag of the turbo. I need to come up with an exhaust restricter to try.

4" from the turbo to the stacks. I used to have an HX-35 with a 3 inch downpipe. Spooled a little quicker, but still a large puff before turbo light, and haze thereafter. Thought the new turbo would clean it up.

If the exhaust pipe size and turbo change didn't make much difference, then unfortunately I'd be looking at the injection pump.
Um, just had a thought. Sifting through the memories of threads gone by, I seem to remember something about the pental (?) a part inside the injector nozzle that had a tenancy to tilt with wear and cause them to not seat all the way. Among the symptoms was hazing. Maybe something to check into.

I appreciate the info you guys are giving me, but I am wondering about upgrading injectors, not whether or not something is wrong with mine, or my pump. The pump is pretty new, but the injectors have a ton of miles on them. I am wondering what the best upgrade injector would be for my setup.

Thanks!
