What Do These Buttons Do ??
On the son's 90 model, plain jane cab, roll-up windows (I love them) and manual door-locks (I love them, too), at the back of each door, in the door-jamb, there is a black plastic button, sort of a door-switch button; what function do these buttons perform??
They may be there, but I haven't noticed them on the wife's truck.
Thanks.

I thought they were some kind of switch; but, the interior light switches are at the fore end of the door, while these black plastic buttons are aft.
Possibly.
I will experiment with that theory, tomorrow.
Correct-a-mundo! TOMTOM wins a cookie!
It took me awhile to figure that one out too(admittedly
). At first I thought they might be a sort of door opening assist or something, until I disassembled an interior and Voila! Seatbelt release!

Not to get off topic here, but we are talking about seatbelts.
I keep having people ask me if not wearing my seatbelt taught me anything after the accident.
I tell em "uhhh.... NO, NOT wearing the doggone thing saved my life!" Jeez, n all this comes right after ya tell em the steering wheel is about a foot from the back of the cab, n a seat is in between that!
OK, back on subject.
I always wondered about seat belt retractors, how some will not untill the door is opened, and others retract no matter what.
Now I know. So what trucks is this lil b lack button on? my 93 didnt have one.

I work at a wrecking yard and tow service. Wearing seat belts is a gamble, about 90 percent of the time they help you and 10 percent they hurt you. For me I want at least a lap belt to hold me down so I can drive the rig if I end up off the road. Its hard to steer when you are bouncing all over the place.

I rolled my 75 chev 3/4 ton on thr freeway at 75 (front tire blow out), I will never wear the seat belt in the pick up at high speed. The cab came down below the top of the steering wheel and if I had not been laying down on the seat I would have at least broken my back or neck.
Of course I now make sure my tires are in great shape and replace they at any sign of damage

Yeah, the cop said its like 30%, where if u dont wear it, its a good thing, but 70% on the other hand. Im back and forth really, but my seat was so worndown that if I wasent wearing a shirt with a collar (like a button up) or a coat or something, the chest belt rubbed my neck.

daryl, i was lucky to get the chevette to go 55mph

it didn't have any ***** whatsoever. i was going 10 and the jeep was going 60. combined force of 70 mph. he hit me head on, and i started to spin. when i was at 180 degrees (backwards) i seen his jeep flying through the air doing barrell rolls for a spilt second. then after i made 2 more revolutions and the car stopped. i unbuckled my seat belt, opened the door and got out. nobody could believe it. the old chevette was GONE. the seat belt kept me from getting ejected or crushed by the wheel. the driver front seemed to be the only uncrumbled spot left.
