When you spill pop on your key, don't use it until you clean it off.

Meanwhile, spray a little dry lock lube (graphite) into the lock. It's just a little sticky.

Do not hang 5# of junk on your key ring eather. The lock assy doesn't like heavy weight on it.

I used to have a 66 GTO with tripower and a four speed. everyonce in a while if I would get on it pretty hard the key would come out of the ignition switch and come to rest under the driver seat. I would have to fish it out to turn the engine off. Man that was a fun car!

Those were the good old days. Now, when the key pops out of a worn ignition switch, everything shuts down at speed, including steering and brakes.

I think that in some ways all the modern assist and safety stuff can actually get dangerous.

Finally had a chance to give Ol' Patches a good cleaning today. We have had heavy water restrictions for about 3 months. They have been lifted for a couple weeks now. But Poor Patches was a dirt filthy truck!

Well, I calculated the mileage from my trip to WV. 1,327 miles round trip. 3 stops for fuel. Average mileage up to the last fill: 16.9. This was with a truck that had about 1,000lbs in the bed towing an old heavy equipment trailer running on LPT bias tires hauling my '49 Jeep station wagon on the way down. Admittedly, I kept it pretty slow, but that route from Cumberland, MD to Morgantown WV is brutal for hills. Miles of 5 & 6 % grades.

I'm not too happy with how this truck is tuned (190's, PDR turbo w/ 16cm housing, pump lightly molested by PO, so ?? but nothing crazy). I think I would be happier with a 12cm WG housing on the turbo, to keep things cooler at the lower rpms I like to run. But, all in all, not too bad for a 24 1/2 year old truck with 240k miles.

Sorry -- no pictures. I could blame the poor quality of my phone camera, but really I just didn't want to show how PWT I was looking.

Here is a pic of the co-pilot instead.

Removed the TPS delete and installed a new working TPS. (Ebay, $59. Bought two ).

It's nice to have OD shifting like it ought to.

A guy at work has a bumper sticker that reads "The more people I meet, the more I like my dog."

Well,

If you lock your wife and your dog in a trunk of a car, drive about for 3-4 hours, stop, and unlock the trunk.....

Who's happy to see you ?
