What did you do to your Gen 1 today?
There was no manufacturer mentioned when discussing this but it was said that they were a casting from China, if I recall correctly.
aren't many cummins parts made in brazil?
Hopefully it's not too late for you but what I've found is that Cummins does NOT have or offer any new heads and the supposedly "new" heads are the cheap ones. Cummins only offers reman'd units.
Give Haisley Machine a call. I saw an ad for good, used Cummins heads for sale on their website for around $480.

What Jimbo got for 1400, and I got for 800, you got for free. Who needs money when you have friends like that. You are a lucky man.
Today, I did the Jim Layne additional ground mod, by running a beefier ground wire from alternator ground at the block to the battery negative.
Also, was able to source an inline, push to connect 48 micron filter for my water/meth set up. Haven't used that for around 3 years due to my rig job filter set up failing. Found some of these filters on line, filled out the "request for free samples" page, and got 4 filters sent to my house- free!!
Tried the water injection last night and holy cow, forgot what that was like!

Rolled over my oil change interval when I was traveling, so today was service time, and clean up the 'Ol beast from it's winter travels....especially since it was going to be about 16*c (68*F) and clear and sunny!
So I changed my oil, with a WIX oil filter, and tossed in a fresh G2 5/16 fram fuel filter. While removing the air box to turbo tube to give me some room to do the oil filter, I noticed something wasn't right.

Luckily I had a spare one in my parts horde....
I also rotated my 5 tires, and flushed my brake fluid. Was a good productive day!

so next weekend should look like this
- remove, sandblast, and paint valve covers hemi orange
- 60# valve springs
- mighty diesel head bolts for some added insurance
- valve adjustment
- replace valve cover gaskets

Finally got around to fixing the bracket on the drivers side, holding the powerstoke intercooler I put in awhile back. All thread, lock nuts, and a rubber isolation bushing.
Also, while I had the grille off, re tightened the 1/4" wire mesh over the intercooler, to keep the large bugs at bay from kamakazeing into my intercooler

Well before I get injectors and advance my timing, I'd like something more than stock head bolts as I'm planning on running 40ish psi boost. I'm too poor to drop $500 on studs plus machining of rockers. After talking with them and a few other guys that have them, they seem to be legit
