Spent today fishing for a bad connection

Hooked up the plow, and for some reason the headlamps didn't work properly on the plow itself. Spent about 4 hours in the 20* temps wading through all the plow harness, switches, and other harnesses I have under the hood that link to the fuse panel I have under there.

After all the back and forth, it turned out to be a broken wire connection at the new fuse panel under the hood.

What a pain....

But ready for the snow, if we ever get any, that is.

Yikes! That's some serious hardware to hang on the front of these trucks . . . Must make it easy to keep your passes clean, though.

She just wanted you to know what it feels like to work outside in the cold . . .

Better you all pushing snow than me! I hope it all goes well.

It is just some serious hardware for a serious truck.
The W-350 dually doesn't seem to care about the extra weight on the front of the truck.
I just use it for low speed yard clearing. It doesn't need to hold up the weight at speed going over potholes or frost heaves on the road.

Been having some electrical issues.....alt gauge periodically jumping from 14V to 16V and everything flickering. Then yesterday lost my auto dim/temp rear view mirror power, fog lights and pyro.

And 4 days ago it was -25*C and today it's +7*C....What the heck winter!!

I had an electrical issue with my truck as well. On Christmas Day, I thought I would drive the old girl to town, so I turned on the key, heard the grid heaters kick on and then "POOF" lots of smoke from under the hood.
I disconnected the battery and went to town in my Jeep TJ instead. Long story short one of the orange fusible links blew, so I figured I would replace the fusible links with a fuse panel like Daytrepper and j.fonder did in previous posts. The first pic is of the mounted fuse panel and the second pic is of the cause of the blown fusible link. The part of the copper strip was making contact with the back of the throttle cable mounting bracket where the tape had worn away. Now hopefully I will be good-to-go until the tear down this summer. My apologies for the lousy pictures...My smart phone died, so I am using my old flip phone until I get my smart phone fixed.

Even though I have no heat, electrical or insulation...it's nice to be able to at least get out of the weather and not have to lay out on the ground.

stop at home cheapo and pick up a co2 detector. Battery powered one is okay, but it needs to be in a somewhat warm environment.

Use double stick tape, and have your wife stick it to the back of your head. Nice and warm under that hat. Just remember to take the hat off once the shops a bit warmed up.

Didn't get much snow here. 1/2" or so.

Took the brick to my only commercial that requires every storm, and scraped it off. Glad I did, as I found the plow wasn't functioning properly. When you put it in float, and touched the left angle switch, the controller flashed red, and the plow didn't move. Release the plow from float, and the plow worked normal in all respects.

Today, about 4 hours again out in the 20s attempting diagnosing, and found the 3 coils on the valves in the pump body, had irregular ohms readings. Supposed to be 6.7 ohms, and we're all at 6.4 ohms. They still work, but I ordered new coils to eliminate the discrepancy.

Hopefully as simple as that, but will have to see once they're replaced.

With 14' ceiling and just open rafters, and then no seals on the doors I think any CO2 buildup is not really an issue, and there is no "somewhat warm".. Plus my heater is propane powered.

Pulled Patches in for a bit of work last night. Found the loss of power to some of my added accessories was just a popped fuse....I had thought about it and was pretty sure that was going to be my issue. Also replaced a rock shattered headlight, and changed my oil filter at the 5000Km interval.

I also re-installed my softopper canopy, I had removed it before winter began thinking about last year and the heavy snow loads we had, but have not had them this year and really don't like the box just filling up with ice and snow.

I had picked up a truck storage box for free that need a little TLC, spent a few days and about $25 getting it back into usable condition.

I pushed a lot of snow today with the old 91.5 W-350.
We got about 16 inches in the last 24HRs, so it took a while. I got stuck even with chains on the rear tires.

If this keeps up I will need to do it again in the morning. We are currently getting about an 1 inch an hour.
