Weak Blower Motor

For whoever posted some of the solutions to the common blower motor problems thank you. So far I have installed a new blower motor, checked voltage at motor it's getting 12v, cut hole in heater box and cleaned out the leaves, checked the cores they seem to be clean. I have the blower wired directly to the battery with a switch. Yet it still blows air like it's on low. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I second this weak blower motor post. I get that it's only cooling a small space, but it's pathetic - even on High.

It's possible that you have an accumulation of leaves and twigs in your heater box which is obstructing the air flow. There is a sticky dealing with this.

Before you go and tear it apart, check and make sure the motor is turning in the correct rotation.

This is an easy mistake.

Also check the air box for any obstruction, I have sucked microfiber towels and plastic bags in though the floor inlet.

Inside the cab passenger side below the glove box I cut a hole and cleaned out all the leaves there was a ton in there. Is there another spot leaves can accumulate?

Well thank you Jim! The wiring was backwards haha it blows like a banshee now whoo hoo! I recently bought the truck and the previous owner wired it up like that. I didn't think to check it cause he ran the wires really nice and even used the same color code for the wiring as the fan (more than I would do haha).

Awesome.
Glad I could help.
Seems when you get a part from overseas the wiring color code means nothing.
The rotation is usually indicated on the blower wheel.
Good luck on your adventures.

You are right about foreign wiring. In Mexico, they will use whatever color for whatever circuit. It is unwise to draw any conclusions by the color of the wire...Mark

This tread is a perfect example, of what makes DTR a welcome place. Lantz is obviously new to this forum with 4 posts to his credit, and because of Jim Layne’s helpful tip, Lantz is a happy guy right now. This is how I’ve always known this forum to be. There’s no way one would even think of checking rotation first, but Jim Layne did. Saved Lantz a ton of wasted time and frustration.

Being a long time spectator off and on here as well as other forums I fully expected the "use the search feature" line. But I got a nice welcome from you guys here that saved my bacon, thanks again!

Electrons are so stupid. They don't care what color the insulation is or even if there IS any. Sometimes electrons don't even need wires.
