vss testing

Hi all, I just replaced my VSS and the new one does not seem to work also. Am I testing it wrong?? I am talking about the electronic module on the end of the little speedo gear box that is located on the T/C output.

I have been testing it by spinning it with a drill and putting a volt meter across the two terminals... shouldn't I get a voltage reading? It is frustrating that I get the same reading with a new one, zero.

I just went through the same thing. turned out to be broken wire near the speed sensor. It was not easy to see either because the wire was pulled into inside the insulation. It looked fine but when I pulled on the wire I could tell that the copper wire was broken because the insulation would strech. That wire is a light gage wire and pulls into pretuy easy.

no, I haven't bothered installing it yet to test it on the truck, I just thought I'd check to make sure it works first, but I'm not sure if I am testing it properly.
