VE pump rebuild (not just reseal)

Who is rebuilding these VE pumps and replacing parts that are worn beyond spec and not just putting in those $25 gasket kits?
I'm thinking the pump head on mine is worn because it runs strong and steady when the fuel is cold but idle lowers as temp goes up. I notice the idle getting lower much quicker when I have less fuel in the tank - because it circulates more back and forth from the engine i think.

I sealed the pump and it fixed some leaks at the beginning of 2017 but I've always had to turn up the idle in the spring here in TX and that didn't fix that. It's been suggested the internals are worn.

I'm just wondering who is doing the trustworthy rebuilds. I have read some disappointing experiences with rebuilt pumps on here.

That was the symptom my injection pump had before it gave up. Start out idling normal, but as the engine warmed up idle got slower and slower. Starting hot got harder toward the end too. There are a number of places that "rebuild" them or you can exchange yours through a number of diesel parts shops.

I don't know what the core charge is now, but when I bought my rebuilt pump, the core charge was only 200 bucks. If I hadn't been such a newby, I would have kept the old one, it was just leaking anyway and a 25 dollar seal kit would have probably fixed it up.Oh well, live and learn...Mark

My idle lowers a bit too when it’s warmed up. But it is only affected when in gear a and I am stopped.

When i I lived in Texas earlier this year I remember seeing a performance diesel shop between Gatesville and Waco. I wish I remembered their name but they sold a lot of fancy trucks. They might be able to help.

Mine, being an automatic as well would die at a stop unless I put it in neutral or gave it throttle.
I googled "bosch fuel injection in texas" and several places came up.

I don’t know where you live, but I’m in northern Oklahoma and I had Cordell’s diesel in Blackwell Ok. do mine. It’s been a couple years but it was like $630 with tax.

not too concerned with price as I am the rebulder's experience and care. I've taken mine apart and resealed it. It does run better than before but the pump is tired. There are clearances so tight that when you hold one part in your hand for a minute but the other is cold on the table, the parts won't fit. I mean, I wasn't going to force it. I've just heard and read a lot of threads on here where people get their pumps back and the truck went from 18mpg to 13 or something. Should go up.

Mine is getting 13.5mpg in town regularly since I installed a utility bed and over cab rack on it. It was 17mpg before that.

I had mine rebuilt about 3 years ago. It had some worn parts and not just gaskets. Metro Fuel in Dallas. Done good job and I have put a lot of miles on it. Good Luck
