ve pump questions
hey guys. is there any advantage to moving the throttle linkage to the inner hole on the lever of the pump. shown below in the pic...

Also, i noticed something else while screwing around under the hood. i don't think this is normal do you...?

i know the lever is indexed with the shaft in the pump. what precautions, if any, do i need to take if i were to remove the screw to access and replace the spring on top??

thats where my throttle shaft is and I like it a lot more. I get full throttle travel that way and it takes less go pedal for more fuel. I ditched the breakover spring and put a spot weld between the tab and shaft. I wouldnt recomend doing what I did though, I'm crazier than most. lol

the allen head on top of the throttle shaft is more or less just a nut. You can remove it and the rest should stay in place. The breakover spring will lift off then. You will probibly have to get ahold of a Bosch pump dealer, it should only be a few bucks for a new one.
The spring is around $14 from Bosch. I doubt if advance or others can get it.
That Allen head screw is holding the whole mess on. It is called the "break over" spring. It prevents mashing on the throttle from over stressing the pump arm.

I see a lot of worn out breakover springs. As long as you only pull off the top part of the lever you won't mess up the indexing.

the lower part of the lever can't move freely can it? i only need to replace the spring, so i probably wouldn't have to remove the top lever. just the screw holding the spring down. i'm sure i can hold the lever in place as an extra precaution.
6th pic down will show you how it goes together. just make sure you get it back in the same spot if you take it all off.

Check your local yellow pages for places with names like "Fuel Injection Service of Yourtown" or "Yourville Fuel Injection". Those places are usually pump shops and can get what you need. If all else fails, call someplace like Midwest Fuel Injection (Chicago area) or Fuel Injection Service (Allentown PA) and tell them what you need. They will take your credit card number and ship you the parts. But I bet you can find the parts within an hour's drive.
