No doubt about that breaking down on the side of the road is no fun especially on the way home.

Thanks guys. I got up and finished tightening the v band on the down pipe and took it for a spin to the parts store to get some 5/8 I'd heater hose so I could take it all apart again. Lol

Question is can the gasket on the turbo be reused. I'm gonna try to get to it without taking it all apart but if I can't then apart it will come.

Now back to the turbo. After the install this is what I've found. The boost hose for the wastegate is a little to short. Had to clock everything so it would fit. It a no big deal. The crossover tube that I got from thd will need a longer rubber hose as well. Probly 2 inches.as for the down pipe. It need to be redone. It is hitting the frame and needs to turn down quicker. It will get me to a muffler shop anyway. I new all this before I ordered the turbo. Eric at thd was very helpful.

As for the first drive goes. Yea baby!! Instant change. Truck still spools nicely. Egts don't climb nearly as fast at wot. Turbo whistle is louder. (In a good way). The pitch of the whistle is different (higher). I may have to turn up the
Starwheel a little more before I tow the camper home n about 3 weeks so I still have time. All n all I think I've made a good choice. Only time will tell.

Also. The turbo came with a tag that said to fill the inlet side with oil before putting on the oil line. I did that. But. It doesn't hold but a little so I ended up giveing my brand new turbo an oil bath. So by the time I go to the parts store it was smoking like a freight train. Yes I tried to clean it off. Lol

The metal crush gasket between the turbo and the manifold are supposed to be one time use only. I am sure you could get away with re-using it to use the truck, but I would not be surprised if you end up with and exhaust leak.

Got everything the way it needs to be. Exhaust done wastegate hose lengthen and the hose to the canister for the tranny redone. I've gotten to drive the truck two days n a row to work. Everything seems to be good to go.

This what I've noticed. The turbo will spool up pretty quick and will do 40 psi if I want it to. Egts don't rise as fast but I can make them get pretty hot. I think that pulling my little camper home is gonna be a breeze..... but. When I I talked to Eric at thd he thought I'd might have a hard time spoiling this turbo. It has the .7 exhaust housing (basically a 12cm). the truck (to me) seems to spool it pretty good. Wonder what would happen if I went to a set of 370 injectors. Not that I will till I get studs at least. And maybe an intercooler. And a trans upgrade. Wow the list keeps growing. Lol.

One other thing I like. (To me this is just a cool factor). It whistles all the time. Not so loud it's annoying. But I e had two people in town say. "What the h@ll u got n that. AnywY. Just through I'd drop n before I hit the bed

Got to stretch her out on the highway today for the first time. I've read that These motors will run 2500 rpm to 2800 rpm all day long. Anyone have any thoughts on that. The reason I'm asking is because it will turn 2600 at 75

Yup, in Case combines, they turned the 5.9's and 8.3's at 2700 RPM all day every day.

That's good but I'll be got gone if I didn't just order a set of tires that get here Monday late. I'll get them on but I won't be able to leave till Tuesday. That's just the way my luck runs
