US Gear D-Celerator Exh. Brake?
US Gear D-Celerator Exh. Brake?
A local guy just picked up a nice '91 D250 (only 68K miles!) with a US Gear exhaust brake. How is it they'll work with an automatic when the bulk of what I find surfing says regardless of brand, exh. brakes in general are worthless on non-lockup autos...
While I see nothing on their site to include the A518, there's nothing there to exclude it either...
Something special about the US Gear version?
A waste of the POs $$?
Or am I missing something obvious?

ROGUE,
I have the US gear exh. break. I had it on my Ferd 6.9 4 spd. and it worked real well.
The US gear brake is the Caddy of exh brakes. It has a waste gate for preasure relief, where as Pac, Banks and the rest obtain relief by means of a hole drilled in the butterfly.
You are correct, an exh. brake will not work on a non locking atomatic tran. I
called US gear and they confirmed this for me. So although I still have the brake I have not installed it on the Dodge.

My D250 came w/ one instaled by the PO; worthless for an A518 as far as what the E brake was created for. I use it mainly to speed up warm ups or to build up exhaust if I want to smoke out someone tailgating me.
