Turbo Upgrade

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok I am getting ready to upgrade my turbo. I would like to have 350hp. I am going to use the new era 370 sticks. I have the Powerstroke intercooler 2nd gen air intake horn 2nd gen cast elbow on the rear of the turbo with a 4" down pipe into 5" just past the firewall all the little pump tweaks timing bumped an 1/8" homemade cold air currently I am using a factory style wix air filter with a swiss cheese factory air filter box Denny T stage 2 fuel pin 3200 rpm gov spring. I am pretty sure that just a turbo upgrade and all the little things I have done aren't going to get me to 350hp but which will get me closer? I want the 14cm2 exhaust housing but is the one Gillet Diesel Service sells that much better? Or should I go with the the one that Pure Diesel Power sells? I also want to upgrade the compressor side. Who should I get the compressor upgrade from. Or am I better off getting a completely different turbo? Thanks a ton. I really do appreciate all the input from you guys.

Should consider maybe a turbo off a 3rd gen.

I read that post it sounded like a good option. But I am on a limited budget. The wife is letting me buy alot of parts but I think it is because I have been finding some really good deals. If I find a good deal on a 3rd gen turbo I will get it. I could always just rob the one off my dads 06 but I don't think that would make him very happy.

well some people talk about putting an hx35 on it off of a early model second gen. i just got my 14cm housing and 60mm compressor wheel in today, it will be going on first thing in the morning. i have also done the timing bump, fuel screw bottomed out and custom cold air intake. the only thing i dont have is the intercooler. i'd read up a little more on the 3rd gen turbos, i heard some poeple on here dont really care for them as much on the 1st gens as they do for the hx35 or the upgraded compressor wheel and housing. but that's just my .02 good luck and have fun

i got mine from GDS and was really happy with the customer service, i told the guy what i wanted to do and he helped me build what i needed and explain to me some of the ins and outs of putting it on and what i should expect out of the performance.

Yeah I have a 5 speed, the Getrag. I was thinking the 14cm2 non-wastegated Turbine Housing and the 60mm inducer Compressor Housing and
Wheel combination from Gillet. The only thing I hate is there are no prices on the web site. What am I looking at spending here? This is the combo I would really like to run I think it will work good for me.

I would think that using 370's, you might get a 16cm exhaust housing. Or maybe a wastegated 14cm, otherwise you are going to have too high of boost pressure.

Get the GDS 60mm compressor upgrade, and a 16cm housing, non w/g.

it will spool up great and pool harder.

lower egts ALOT also.

dont get talked into putting a hx35 on your truck, its intercooled and is not a upgrade from your stock turbo, except it will spool up quicker but really wont push that much air.

Okay so the 60mm comp. and the 16cm2 housing with the 370's. I don't pull alot but if I need to I want to be able to with no trouble. Before I do the turbo and injectors I need to get some gauges. I was thinking Pyro, Boost, Fuel Pressure and a tach. I was looking at about 400 for all the gauges plus the steering column pod for the tach and a universal dash pod for the boost. Is there anywhere I can get them cheaper? These are all Isspro and I really don't care what brand they are just want a good set of gauges.
Thanks again.

I have all Stewart Warner Max Perf. gauges. A buddy talked me into them because they were "the best", but I really dont like them much at all. I should have gone with either Isspro or Autometer.

I have autometers in mine, but I think Isspros are better. I thought the Z series gauges went well with the truck.
