The compressor side will have a H1C Holset..usually the turbine side will have an 18cm turbine housing on the 93's.

Andy,

The inlet hose and compressor inlet is the same size as the HX... I know that now first hand..LOL..

I remember Scotty fitting up the SA II to my truck just for giggles to see what would fit. The hosing is all the same size..

Yep, same size.

Considering my turbo started as an H1C! Some how it ended up being a 35/40 hybrid!

Thankyou gentlemen, but what I'm wondering is if the compressor fan(turbine) is the same as the hx35 or not.

Stock 3/4 ton trucks with the H1 had a 56mm inducer, the one tons supposedly had a 58mm inducer. I have been told that the inducer contour is the same for the H1 and Hx turbos, but the wheels are not interchangeable as the mounting on the shaft is a little defferent -- the hx has an extra relief to clear a snap ring or something?

Lot of hear-say, but that is the info I have.

I better refrase;
Would it be a performance improvement to put an HX35 on a '93 with the stock 18cm exhaust housing? The truck has performance injectors and soon to have pump timed and tweaked.

Yes... The HX is an improvement and would eliminate the "Flutter" problem all of us have had with stretched pumps and especially 12 cm housings.

If you could drop an HX in, I would do it. Unless you are getting really crazy injectors, the 12cm isn't too bad either.

Thanks guys for the info. Jason, this guy is blowing alot of black smoke, so we know he's got lots of fuel. I'm thinking about selling him my HX35 and adjusting his pump, air intake, and governor spring. That should do it for him. What do you think?

There are alot of adjustments he could make to get more to the road and less out the pipe. Sounds like the full load screw was maxed without anything else..

With the stock turbo I had enough air to get rid of the smoke.

Drop me a line...You are close, we could get him on the right track.
