Before you put the clutches in, soak them overnight in the additive, do it somewhere other than your house or basement, that stuff smells terrible.
I put new clutches in mine a few weeks ago in the basement. The whole house still reeks of that crazy friction additive
Here's a powr-lok.

and an open carrier

Hmmm....... Detroit or find a powr-lok.

What powr-loks will fit the D70? Is the 60 and 70 interchangeable?

I'd go with the powr-lok. There are quite a few out there on ebay and such, or you can get new ones, but they are pretty pricey. Not sure if the 60 and 70 are the same.

maybe i should just chuck it all and do a mini or a full spool and carry a spare axle or two. shure would be fun backin a trailer in wet grass with a spooled rear end around a tree.

Where do you get them? I still have yet to find the clutches on any website. Every time someone has said they have gotten them somewhere, I haven't been able to find them offered.

I just had a powr-lok out of a 94 D70 given to me.

I assume it will work... and I thank you also for the link.

Now...... how about a 'How to' on setting up rear ends?

Sorry, but I'm at that point right now too. I've read a lot about how to, the information is out there. Now I have to just take my time and try to do it right. I'll let you know how it goes, and good luck on yours

I highly recommend the detroit.

Also,
I am trained in setting up ring and pinions, but it is the one thing that I prefer to leave to the experts.... especially with Dana axles, because setup bearings are required. Ford 9" and Toyota are a lot easier.

I'm NOT trained, and prefer to do my own. What's up with that?!
