Correct, the 904 with the GM pattern came in a couple diffrent jeeps. The early cherokees had a 904 with the 60 degree GM pattern and some postal jeeps with the 4cyl iron duke had 90 degree Gm patterns.

Here goes guys.

The A904 Torqueflite was used behind the Slant 6 & small blocks up to 318 as far as I know. The Slant 6 Valiant was it's original application.

The A999 was a heavy duty version of the 904 which also often had lockup. This was used behind the some 318 & all 360 that did not get a 727.

The 727 Torqueflite was used with heavy duty optioned slant 6, small block & all big block V8. Also, a few Cummins

The A500 is an overdrive 999.

The A518 is the trans we know behind our Cummins & heavy duty small block engines.

There was never a factory big block 904 / 999. They can be bolted up with an adapter & some drag racers do use them, however, they are not long lived behind a big block.

I have been told that a 904 / 999 will bolt up to a big block by pulling one dowel pin & some careful alignment. My cousin did this years ago not knowing any better & it lasted several years behind a 383 in a 4x4 truck. I really cannot advise this myself.

Oh, & a Loadflite is just a slightly recalibrated, heavy duty Torqueflite.

The 3 speed transaxles are also slightly smaller, repackaged variants of the 904.
