My plan is to get the torque converter, and possibly a valve body from Goerand, and get his input on what internal hard parts to change/upgrade etc.. And then either do the rebuild on the trans myself or possibly have one of the local shops do the rebuild with what I tell them to do.

That way I get the good torque converter and don't have to ship a whole tranny. Also should come out with a good stout tranny a little cheaper than getting everything from dave.

Excellent plan of action. I've got a guy just down the road from me that is well known for his tranny rebuilds. He actually built one for my suburban (th400) that is extremely stout. It's behind a HO built 454, and needs to be stout..LOL Not to mention i plow with it. So i will probably do the same thing. I will get recomendations and have him build it.

I found out they DO make full upgrade valve bodies for the 518 but there like 400+ $$$........ and a transgo shift kit is like $100 if you install it your self.

If Dave does the whole tranny for 3100 does that include a nice shifting valve body or is just a stock rebuild with your choice of converter.

The 3100$.... is that with the converter figured in ? doesnt he have two choices of tq's??

I believe I'm gonna go with a local tranny shop, they do a lot of diesels, drag racing transmissions, and just your everday car transmissions. Ill get more details posted later
