If you use pressure switches you don't need toggle switches.

What McMopar said!! He did my 47rh swap and i love it. Although i chose the GHETTO toggle switch's!! They are fun to play with. When you tach it out flip lok-up and then od the rpm's drop and you can hear her pullin out of the grunt waaayy . It's best to have a straight pipe. This fall i even took her down the strip and i would toggle lok-up and then od! DANG the tires would chirp on the track!! Totally a factor. I'm not sayin to do this but it is fun. I will eventually go with pressure switch's but now it's fun. I want to see what it will do after some mod's. Bye the way you can control lok-up if your towing. The sooner you get into it the better

so i called ats transmissions today and they can get me a transmission for 3100

i also called goerends and talked to dave for a while, he can get me a 518 for 3550 or a 47rh for 4000

i dont know what to do the only difference in the two would be the lockup and i dont go on long distances that much, plus i dont have time to do all the mods plus the extra money for a adapter plate, starter, etc. he said they would be equally as tough since he built it. so i guess ill prolly go with the 518 you tell me.
should i go with goerend or ats? they both come with a billlet torque converter. ats has a 5year/500000 mile warranty, goerend has 3 year/100000 mile warranty, does anyone know which one is better. im about to pull my hair out!!!

guy at ats seemed to be in a lil hurry and not to knowledgeable on his product, said hed send me a brochure

dave at goerend was great told me all about his transmissions and what parts they would include

I've got a Goerend Tq Converter in my truck and i like it..Having said that, i think i would go with the better warranty...Compare the two to see what they actually cover..BUT i haven't heard anything at all negative towards Georend. I might just spend the extra for thiers. Probably won't help you much, but my 2 cents

I live just on the other side of town from ATS and when the time comes for a tranny in the new truck. It'll at least get a goerend torque converter, possibly a valve body, and maybe a whole tranny.

So if that tells you anything.

Spend the extra and go with Goerend. My dad loves his goerend converter in his 05

so ok now ive narrowd it down a litle bit
im gonna go talk to two local shops aroundhere. see what they have to say about rebuilding my tranny w perf. parts just cause its local and possibly less headache.

im also gonna talk to my cousins friend who owns a diesel shop over in the austin area and get his opinion.

i talked to dave at goerends today also about swapping up to one of his 47rh trannies and he said the pros of it would be better mpg on the highway, cons would be more money for trans, more money for extra parts, and a lil custom work on my truck which would take more time to install.

he said his 518 and his 47rh would be equally durable

i need my truck quick for work, so i think, if i go with Dave, i should go with one of his 518's, what do you thnk

I think a built 518 will make you perfectly happy, and do everything you want it to do. Lock up is nice, but it all depends on how much money you want to spend.

I seriously doubt you will regret going with a built 518.

IMO if you are going to go with goerends TQ let them build the rest of trans or get it built to what they would put in it. No purpose in putting in a good TQ and not building the rest of the trans right. The tight TQ will put more stress on the rest of the weaker parts of the trans.

i dont see why it wouldnt, i dont think dave would beef it up if he thought it was a crappy tranny to begin with, and then warranty it

Do you have any idea how long the warranty is? You could try the 518 and if you like it keep it, if not, call Dave back and see if you could swap to the 47rh. I'm sure you will be happy with the 518 though.
