transmission went out

so my transmission went out today, booo....
this couldnt have happened at a worse time, me and my girlfriend are moving in together soon, and im starting a new job where ill be using my truck every day.
i dont know what to do im tempted to buy another truck 03 or better diesel, im gonna keep the truck even if i buy the new one, itll just be a toy for a later date. but for now im gonna hafta sell one of my fourwheelers.
anyways....
what should i do about fixin my truck? here are the options i have come up with:
1) follow bc847's rebuild
2) buy a built transmission from ats, goerends etc
3) swap in a stock 47rh, i can afford to do the swap, but prolly not to beef it up
4) swap in a getrag
5) swap in a nv4500
6) buy a duramax (expensive, but nice)

lots of input would be much appreciated.

The trannys been goin out for a while it would just have no power off the line and wouldn't pull a decent load very well. Today I was driving and it hardley wanted to leave this intersection I was at. I stopped and checkjed my fluid and it was black and kinda gritty.
A tranny line I had to mend a while back came loose and I dumped all of my fluid about a month ago going real slow. This was brand new atf+4 fluid!!!!

if it looks like crap its going to work like crap. do a tranny flush. take the returning tranny cooler line off and stick it in a bucket and have someone poor fluid in while you cycle from park to N or D 2 1

1stgen545 may still have a allison set up and ready to run on a first gen. He had it in his pulling truck but the rules changed and he went with the 4500. Its in the classifieds

Whats your budget? like what do you think you can get for your 4 wheeler+extra..... IMHO the truck may be a tow/daily down the road then do the tranny right the first time. Get a 47rh with everything you need and do a single disk goerend converter or something with a $50 shift kit from transgo.
