Cows,
That bracket is used on the 1989-1993 2WD Getrag, as well as the aforementioned 1992-1993 2WD NV4500, in the gas apps.
It also appears to have been used in the 2WD 727 apps from 1989-1991.
There were some NP435s used in the 1989-1993 trucks and I believe that bracket is the same for those.
IT WAS NOT USED ON THE 1988-1991 A-535 D-150 GASSER APPLICATIONS!!!

James1, that is a 4X4 crossmember with the 1" riser for the 7" tall frames.
Those frames are found on all 1 ton Duallies, all E/C trucks, dually or otherwise, INCLUDING 1/2 ton E/C and most 4x4 standard cabs in 1992 and 1993.

The crossmember pictured is used in the 7" frame 4X4 trucks from 1988 through 1993.

Aside from the cast triangular piece, as pictured, it is also used on the manual transmissioned trucks.

Mark.

Sorry to drag up this old thread but maybe you guys can help me.

I'm currently in the process of doing a 2wd NV4500 swap. My truck started out as a 1990 D250 with 727 automatic. I'm trying to install a 2wd NV4500 from a newer dodge cummins truck but the problem I'm running into is the stock 1990 crossmember is just a bit too wide for the trans to fit comfortably in front of it. I need to either scoot the crossmember back or the trans forward about 1/2"-1" for them to clear each other. The crossmember that's in the truck now is a 5 hole "early getrag" type.

My question is the 6 hole "automatic" type crossmember skinnier than the 5 hole? Or does anyone know of some adjustment or modification that can be made to move the engine and trans forward a smidge?

Thanks for any help. I feel so close and yet so far.

I think you can just skip the tranny mount back one hole on the lower portion, and that should give you the room you need. Then you just need to drill a couple more holes.

Never used a 727 tranny mount in a 2wd set-up. I tried a later 93 A518 2wd cross member on my 2wd NV4500 and it would not fit without a fight. I decided to keep the crummy hunk of channel a previous owner installed....since I was going to go 4wd soon.

Upon closer inspection I think I may be able to swap the motor mounts around and move the engine and trans forward just enough that way. Hopefully I can still clear the radiator up front though.

Swapping the motor mounts to move the engine and trans forward is no good. The oil pan bumps into the front crossmember and the fan gets too close to the radiator. I guess I will have to get the angle grinder out and do some precision clearancing on the crossmember.

Even if I make room though I still can't figure out how to actually attach the NV4500 to the 1990 2wd crossmember. I have heard of using a mount for a turbo 350/400 from a GM application but I'm not sure exactly how it would work. I'm toying with using what I believe to be the stock 2wd second gen mount with the first gen crossmember. The biggest issue is how little room there is between the top of the crossmember and bottom of the NV4500 mounting surface. Makes things difficult especially when trying to use factory parts and little modification.

I don't think you can use the automatic cross member.
I would leave the motor mounts where the were and locate the right cross member or one from a 4WD. Gassers are the same. some say they aren't but mine is out of a 1990 W150.

Just went out and messed with the stock 2nd gen mount. It also has the trans sitting too high.
However I came across this file from advance adapters that lays out exactly what I was planing to do. http://www.advanceadapters.com/downloads/712585.pdf I think thrashingcows posted on another forum that the turbo 350/400 mount was actually too short but I'll try it anyway. Those mounts are inexpensive and if it is too short I'm sure I can find a way to make it taller.

I can't recall exactly what the problem was with the GM mount, but please let us know how it works out for you.

I was trying to find a way to mount the 2wd NV4500 on the stock 2wd auto cross member with over the counter parts, or easily found junk yard pieces. So most likely I bailed on the GM mount since it required grinding down the cross member?
