transmission drive plate
transmission drive plate
I have a 93 D350 club cab duelly with 5.9 Cummins and 4 speed automatic fully loaded with all toys, bells and whistles.
Is it common for the transmission drive/flex plate to crack and break?
Mine started making a rattling noise last week. Checked it out two nights ago. I pulled the inspection cover and found the plate with several cracks. before I could get the new plate, It broke completely and had to have it towed.
Several calls later, I found one but ONLY ONE. Very rare around here. Dealer is expensive and after market claims N/A.
I've got almost 230,000 km's and wondering if I should be expecting this to happen again or what caused it if it is not normal for this application.
Thanx guys in advance for your comments or replies.

Look in the tech facts section for First Gen's. My understanding is that you should buy the 2nd gen part from cummins (better and much cheeper than the original from the dealer).
Good luck.
Good luck.
Mine recently broke also at 110k. Cummins is $90 the Dodge dealer is $250. They also replaced the rear main and and serviced the trans with new seals. As I understand its not uncommon for this to happen on first gens.
