Transmission Cooler Install

Going to be installing my derale cooler soon. Also am putting in a autometer trans temp gauge and b&m pan and amsoil atf. Will post more pics as I make more progress tomorrow.

Just got time to make up an aluminum bracket for the cooler today. Will be mounted inboard the frame rail ahead of the fuel tank.

what size lines are the in/out ports of that derale cooler? Are they 1/2"? Derale makes ones specific to trucks w/ CTD engines(I know on JCWhitney for sure, that is the note with the astric by the model numbers) because those ones foR the CTD are 1/2" lines. Don't mean to double check you, just hate to see you downsize and reduce flow

The head: What kind of writeup are you looking for? I will have info soon on routing my lines and gauge and pan install.

Dieselcrazyw350: aluminum isn't that bad at all. Well some people like it and some don't. This oilpan was my 2nd aluminum welding project. I personally find it easier than steel. Biggest things are torch angle and rythym. I was thinking of making some nice welded aluminum valve covers for my 12v. Maybe one day.

Good accurate descriptions of fittings needed to connect it all up would be great.

Kind of do it like how BC did his intake writeup. Take a picture of everything laid out in an "exploded" view.

Do you have to make new holes in the pan to do this upgrade? Or do you just hook the lines up to certain transmission ports? That would be nice to know their locations.

Your pan looks pretty awesome. Reminds me of the moroso aluminum oil pans I used to run on Hondas.

The Head:

What I am going to do is cut the stock lines running to the stock cooler in the front. Flare those lines where I cut them, slip some 1/2" hose over them. Run them to the hose barbs on the derale cooler. Pretty straightforward.

The b and m pan comes with a port for the temp gauge. The right way is to put the guage in the hot line, but I'm probbaly going to run it in the pan for now.
