Transfer-case ???

I am going to look at another Dodge/Cummins this evening.

What transfer-case is standard equipment on a 1991 Dodge/Cummins 250 5-speed 4x4??

New Process 205, I hope.

I reckon 5-speed will be Getrag, am I correct??

Thanks.

I thought I would provide the rest of the story.

I found a 90 model Dodge/Cummins 4x4 250 5-sp at a farm auction.

The locked-up Getrag, transfer-case, busted front shaft, rear shaft, and numerous parts and pieces were thrown in the bed.

The windshield was busted.

The right side of the cab was caved in from a gooseneck jack-knifing, locking the right door permanently.

There was not a piece of the body that did not have a major dent.

The truck had been sitting over two years.

I was after the engine, which would start easily and run good.

I figured, maybe, that the transfer-case was okay, and possibly the axles.

We are fortunate to have a Getrag whiz in the area and he might could save the transmission.

I thought, considering the condition of the truck, that it could be bought for about $800.

I figured I would stop bidding at $2000.

I set it in at $500 and was final contending bidder at $2100; the truck brought $2200.

Honestly, this truck looked like it had been hit by a train.

This goes to show that the 1st Gen. is still highly sought after, and people are willing to pay for it.

Yup, when people are looking to buy a Cummins powered Dodge, I tell them to add $2k just for the engine. If it would be a $2000 truck with a 318, then it's a $4000 truck with the Cummins.

By the time I find another 1st.Gen for sale, I may wish I had bid another hundred or two.

I know where one is at that is driveable, but rough.

91 model, 350 2wd DRW chassis-cab 5-sp with over 600,000 miles.

I was asked $2500, I probably should get it.

They aren't making any more.
