my truck dose not seem to know when to down shift it seams fine driving but when pulling a trailer after stoping at a stop sign it wont shif in to 1st unless i do it manual is there any thing that i can adjust to change that

The kick down cable should be checked for proper adjustment. Have some one in the truck hold the throttle all the way to the floor (engine off) climb under the truck and check to see if the kick down lever is at its max travel. You may need to have them wiggle it to find what is what but on my truck its a push cable and pushes the lever towards the back of the truck. If tis out of adjustment the adjuster is under the hood. Unlock the clip and slide the sleeve forward or back and recheck.

Other than that it may be that the valve body is worn and needs work.

 

sounds like the trans isn't shifting down at idle. not that it isn't downshifting at throttle.

 

yup can that be fixed by adjusting the cable
