Tranny filter fluid with Mag DD pan?
Tranny filter fluid with Mag DD pan?
Getting ready to change my tranny fluid and filter A518. I have a Magtech double deep pan on it. I've got a case 12 qts of atf+3 and a filter. I live a ways from any place to buy more fluid. So I'm asking if this should be enough?
Also is there anything else I need to do while the pan is off?
Thanks in advance.

I have the Mag DD pan and I figure about 16 quarts for a total fluid change. The pan claims to hold 9 quarts. After draining, I add 10 quarts to the pan. Then I detach the line at the back left of the transmission, coming from the cooler, attach a longer drain hose to it, start the truck, put it in Nuetral so it pumps through the TQ, and pump out 4 quarts. Then I add 4 more quarts to the pan. Then I start the truck and pump out another 2 quarts. Reattach the line to the transmission. Then I add what ever I need to bring the fluid in the pan up to the right level...usually about 2 quarts. Remember to check the fluid with engine running, tranmission in nuetral.
I found that it's pretty easy to figure out how much you've pumped out if you just run the drain line into a gallon oil jug much like what Rotella, Dello, or Amsoil come in.
