Tranny Cooler pan

Anyone using a tranny cooler pan ?

Amazon Amazon

This one from amazon looks like a good deal, and with the sump extender kit, it's under $200

Thoughts ? Concerns ? Experiences ?

TIA

I`m shopping them myself, looks ok but those tubes worry me as far as getting filled with dirt/crud/winter salt and the ensuing rust. Seems to me it`s one more thing to have to keep an eye on.

Yeah, I thought of that myself, but I don't go off roading.... so the most I'll be getting in there is the occasional squirrel that kamakazi's my truck.

I just ordered it, so I'll be posting my impressions when I get it.

I run one of those but the older model it is realy nice I think if i remember it holds a additional 4-6 qts of oil I think when i changed mine I had to put aprox 12qts of oil to bring it back to full if you can find the older model it is silver finish & only cost about $89.00

I have the same one on my truck. It dropped the temps on the freeway to around 100 degrees and around town runs 135 that's with the probe in the pan. I know it's a better buy then the pans double the cost.

I have this pan too. After two winters of mild in Maryland its got some rust. No.e was unfinished. That one in black looks like like it might stand up better. I don't have a temp gauge but it makes me feel better.

I think mine took 17qts to fill. (With engine running in neutral)

Did you install the filter extender that is offered on Amazon?

I have that exact pan, ordered the filter extender also. The screws supplied with the extender weren't long enough so i left it off and just put a filter in the stock location.

I live on dirt/kileche road and it doesn't get clogged up. Much nicer and cheaper than a 300.00 pan. Mine is the black one and I have no rust.

Just received the pan and extender. Looks like a nice unit.

Doesn't come with a filter, so I have to pick one up.

Derale makes some nice stuff. I've had one on my 4l60e in a s10 since 2003 and no cracks, no rust. Can't comment on temp differences.

The pan and extender are installed.

Really nice unit, with a trans temp port, and drain plug (magnetic) installed already.

Went in relatively easy, although I had a few bolts stripped out of the trans that need to be helicoiled next time the pan gets dropped.

it appears the previously the trans bolts were overtightened.

No leaks, as I just used longer bolts to catch the remaining threads on 3 holes

Best thing for you guys, is the price came down about $30 since I bought it.
