Towing in O/D
Towing in O/D
I have a post in the towing section that asks what rpm corresponds to what speed when towing.

I have a 1st gen, and towing with trailer, I would like to keep the engine running above 2000 rpm while towing in overdrive, but I have no tach fitted. Could someone with the four speed auto transmission and 3.54 rear end tell me what speed 2000 rpm corresponds to in both O/D and in third?

Thanking you in advance.

John

Actually I got a lot of responses in the towing section, the reason I posted here was I didn't think that there were that many 1st gen knowlegeable towing people in there. They all seemed to have new stuff. I guess they all must have upgraded before I got here. ;D

John
Re:Towing in O/D
3rd gear is 1:1 on these tranny's.
You want to keep RPM's at or above 2000 RPM because of the TC. Otherwise you'll start getting too much heat in the tranny. Not good...

bob.

I know that as a thermocouple :-[

John
