Tires Questions On 92 250 4x4

I am wanting to put a set of larger tires on my 92 4x4 250

right now it sits on 16x6' rims and was wondering if i did a wheel swap if 285/75/16s would work, they measure 32.90x11.25 when installed on a 8'rim

has any one ran a tire this large on a stock lift?? or can it even be done? also i want to put these tires on 98 and up 7 1/2 steel rims but some one told me that the backspacing was way out and would rub against the frame

any other rims out there larger then 6' that will work ok???

Thanks any help is great thanks

I’m currently running 295/75R16 on an 8” rim, which measure 33.20 x 11.50 when measured on an 8” rim. However, I have 2.5” of lift on the front, and I can cause a light rub between the tires and the stock fender flares if I turn the wheel halfway and hit a bump. Therefor, I don’t think the 33” will fit on a stock front end.

I am running 255/85/16 on my 93 (stock rims)with no problems.
If your front springs are sagging they may rub though.

On my 98.5 I ran the 285/75/16 on stock rims with no clearance issues.

I had originally 285/75/16 on 8" chrome rims. They fit without any lift kit and didn't rub at all.

Currently running 315/75/16 on 8" nittro's now and they did require a 4" lift so it wouldn't rub. Or was that I wanted a 4" lift kit and then thought about what size tires would fit...

Either way, it looks a lot nicer now.

I just put new tires on my stock truck yesterday and went with 265/85/16's on 8' chrome rims and they fit fine.

I run 285/75/16s and they work just fine as long as front end hasnt sagged any due to the weight of the engine. I had my front end springs re-arched and an extra leaf added. I have plenty of clearance with those tires.

I think at least 1" lift springs would be req'd to clear the 285's w/o rubbing. I have 1" lift Skyjackers and 33 x 12.5s. I had to trim due to the extra width, but in the middle of the turn, the height of the tire would touch the front lip.

May still have to trim the factory fender flare/trim too. Most tire shops will mount up an example set up to test fit. Then you'll know for sure.

265's would fit fine.

I'm running 33x12.50 on 16x9.75" rims. I have the 2" softride springs and it doesn't rub. I am getting ready to swap out these Kuhmo tires I would love another set of Geolanders but they don't come in 16.5" . So I am still trying to decide. I think I could maybe run a 35" with my set up.

I've got 285/75/16s on the 7" alum. wheels my truck had when I bought it. The rims are too narrow for the tires - 8" would be just right. They do rub sometimes while turning and hitting a bump even with the stock flare trimmed. The front needs Skyjackers!

The Skyjacker Softride front springs are a nice mod. They improve the ride greatly. It is not as harsh going over the smaller bumps in the road, you don't even feel them until the rear hits them. Now it is time to do something about the rear.

I have the 285's on 16x8 alloy wheels. They hit alittle on turns when the suspension flexes but its not terrible.Someday I will cut the fender flairs just a tiny bit.Suspension is stock.
